Obituary
Jeffrey J. “Jake” Penniston, age 70, of Argyle, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 26, 2026, at his home. He was born on July 23, 1956, at Monroe Hospital in Monroe, WI, the son of J.D. and Florence (Dornedon) Penniston. Jeff grew up in Argyle and graduated from Argyle High School. He spent his entire life in the Argyle area; a community he was proud to call home. Jeff worked at Argyle Industries for many years, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. On July 19, 1980, Jeff was united in marriage to Sherry Krahenbuhl at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Argyle. Together, they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered around family and the memories they made together.
Jeff was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He was an avid collector of Red Wing pottery and a proud member of the Red Wing Collectors Society. He had a special talent for tracking down just the right piece to add to his collection and was known for being quite the “internet shopper” when it came to finding those hard-to-find treasures. Jeff was also a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers and enjoyed following NASCAR racing in his younger years. He spent many years enjoying the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Above all else, Jeff treasured his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him tremendous happiness and pride. Jeff was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Argyle and will be remembered for his love of family, his lifelong ties to the Argyle community, and the many memories he leaves behind.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Sherry, at home; his children: Austin Penniston of Argyle and Kristen (Chris) Johnson of Kronenwetter, WI; his grandchildren: Ethan, Hunter, Melanie Penniston, December Chapman, Liam and Emma Johnson; one great-grandchild: Jaydyn; one brother: Garold (Bettye) Penniston of Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law: John and Kay Krahenbuhl; and one brother: Richard Penniston.
