Anita F. Penniston

Anita F. Penniston, age 87, of Brodhead, WI, formerly of Argyle, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Collinwood Memory Care in Brodhead. She was born on May 24, 1939, in Darlington, WI, the daughter of Jacob and Lucile (Monson) Bisegger. Anita grew up in Wiota, WI, and graduated from Argyle High School in 1957. Anita was united in marriage to Bruce L. “Izzy” Penniston on May 24, 1958, at Argyle Lutheran Church in Argyle. Following high school, Anita began working at the State Bank of Argyle, where she spent 50 years as a cashier. She was a familiar face to many throughout the community during her years at the bank.

Anita lived a quiet and simple life and was happiest spending time with her family. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles and, in her younger years, was an avid reader she also loved going for a long walk sometimes multiple times a day. Anita was a longtime member of Argyle Lutheran Church.

Anita is survived by her children: Deb (Brian) Weissenfluh of Monroe, WI, and Daniel (Karin) Penniston of Argyle; her grandchildren: Dana (Mike) Smith, Travis (Alissa) Weissenfluh, James Armstrong, Stefani (Tyler) Nunn, and Carl Penniston; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother: Loren (Val) Bisegger; two sisters: Ellen (Duane) Bright, and Susan (Ron) Nethery; two sister-in-laws: LaVonne Penniston and Carol Botteron and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce L. “Izzy” Penniston; her son: Dorson Penniston one brother: Jimmy Bisegger; and two sisters: Edith Hendrickson and Janet (Gary) Lewis.

A funeral service will be held Monday, September 28, 2026, at 12:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (801 Milwaukee St., Argyle, WI 53504) with Rev. Daniel Bohlman officiating. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in Argyle. A visitation will be held Monday, September 28, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. until 11:45 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle.
