Hermann Wolters

Hermann Wolters affectionately known as, “Hermann the German” went to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 10, 2026.

He was born on April 29, 1943, in Verden, Germany. Hermann grew up on his family farm in Blender-Varste, Germany, surrounded by his parents Friedrich and Elisabeth Wolters and two siblings, Friedrich and Elisabeth.

After finishing his school years he went on to a three year apprenticeship on three different farms, while also attending more schooling. Following these years, he did an internship on a larger farm in Denmark. Subsequently, he pursued more Ag related schooling before venturing to the United States for almost two years, where he connected with some distant relatives. During this time, Hermann worked on their cattle and grain farm in southern Illinois. From there, he moved on to a hog and chicken farm near Forrest, IL. He then joined a combine crew, harvesting wheat from Texas to the Canadian border. Following that, he picked peaches in Colorado, picked apples and milked cows in California, and combined milo in Texas before heading east to take a ship back to Germany. After arriving home, he took over his parents' farm to raise pigs and grow grain.

In May of 1976, Hermann married his wife Christine Hertz-Kleptow, who worked alongside him on the farm. Throughout the next few years Hermann and Christine were blessed with their first three children. In 1983, Hermann and his family immigrated to the United States, settling on a farm near Belmont, WI. Once settled, Hermann and Christine were blessed with two more sons. In his new Home Country, Hermann turned his life over to the Lord Jesus Christ, learned to study God's word faithfully, and followed the Lord's leading.

For Hermann, his family, the children, and grandchildren were his Greatest Joy! He felt blessed to still also meet his latest grandchild, Chase. Hermann had no greater joy than to see his children and grandchildren walk in the Way of the Lord Jesus, and it was his daily prayer for all of us to be pleasing in the sight of the Lord and follow Him wholeheartedly.

One of his most quoted Bible verses was Proverbs 22:6.

 "Train up a child in the way he should go,

 And when he is old he will not depart from it."

Hermann is survived by his wife, Christine, his children: Jan-Harm and Mary Wolters, Hinnerk and JeriAnn Wolters, Julia and Chad Krogman, Dirk and Sarah Wolters, and Caleb and Becca Wolters;        his grandchildren: Josiah Wolters, Troy, Ross, Wade, and Clint Wolters, Hezekiah, Titus, and Brayden Krogman, Colton, Emmy, and Christa Wolters, and Chase Wolters; as well as his sister: Elisabeth Mundhenke in Germany.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Friedrich and Elisabeth Wolters and brother, Friedrich Wolters.  

A celebration of Hermann’s life will be held Monday, September 14, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. at Martintown Community Church (W8996 Lena Street, Browntown, WI 53522). A visitation with refreshments will follow the celebration of life at the church until 1:30 P.M. Burial will be held at Pleasant View Primitive Methodist Cemetery in rural Belmont, WI following the visitation. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
