James McGlynn

James "Jim" M. McGlynn, age 77, of Shullsburg, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at UW Health University Hospital in Madison, surrounded by his family. Born February 23, 1949, in Monroe, Wisconsin, Jim was the son of James  McGlynn Sr. and Gladys (Sutherland) McGlynn.

He graduated from Shullsburg High School and dedicated much of his life to agricultural pursuits, farming, and working as a self-employed truck driver. A proud Vietnam veteran, Jim served two years in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant in the 9th Infantry USAR PAC receiving a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Jim was a lifetime member of the Shullsburg VFW Post # 10533. He was a faithful member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and took great joy in hunting, fishing, playing euchre, cheering on the Green Bay Packers.  For Jim though, the center of his world was spending time with his friends and family.

Jim married his beloved wife, Becky (Bruun) McGlynn, in Galena, Illinois, on April 9, 1999. Together they shared a lifetime of love and companionship.

He is survived by his wife, Becky; his children, Melissa (Eric) Wiegel and Shawn (Suzy) McGlynn; grandchildren, Ryne Wiegel, Ireland Wiegel, Autumn McGlynn, Adisynne Wiegel, Colton McGlynn, Aspen McGlynn, and Rhet Wiegel; sisters: Kay Ingram and Cheryl (Dennis) Mulcahy, a special godson: David Ingram and sister-in-law Terri Bennett and many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Keith (Joyce) Houston and Gordon (Sharon) McGlynn and brother-in-law: Jack Ingram.

Jim will be remembered for his wild spirit, strong work ethic, and genuine love for his family. He found great pleasure in the simple joys of life and the company of those he loved.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on November 21, 2026, at Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg, Wisconsin where military rites will be accorded. Following the burial, a celebration of life will take place at the VFW in Shullsburg, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory.

Jim’s legacy will live on through the love of those he leaves behind and the many lives he touched throughout his generous life.
