Obituary
Martha J. Ritchie, age 94, of Darlington, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, at Sienna Crest Memory Care in Mineral Point.
Martha was born on July 15, 1931, in Gratiot, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles Henry McGinnis and Kathryn Martha (Brannan) McGinnis. She was united in marriage to Sam “Sammy” Ritchie on August 29, 1953, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and devotion to one another.
Martha dedicated many years of her working life to the healthcare field, serving in medical records. She enjoyed feeding all the deer and birds at her home and tending to her backyard. When she wasn't outside working in the yard she rarely missed a British comedy show on TV. Her family was the center of her world, and she found her greatest happiness in the time spent with those she loved. She was a steady presence in their lives—offering encouragement, warmth, and unconditional love. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy, and she treasured every moment she shared with them.
Martha is survived by her children: Roch (Diane) Ritchie, Mike Ritchie, Brian (Stacy) Ritchie, and Colleen (Mike) Andrews; her grandchildren: Erin, Andrew (Kelli), Matt (Pam), Lucas (Meegan), Wade (Katie), Weston, Ireland (John), Conner and Alyssa; great-grandchildren: Lilly, Kerigan, Piper, Dutch, Duke, Everly and Cora; and her sisters: Mary Hammer & Judy O'Neill; many nieces and nephews; and her loving and caring neighbor: Judy Lindsay. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Sammy, and her siblings: Edward McGinnis, Kathleen White, Rachel Glindinning, Charlene Barry, Richard McGinnis, and Margaret Sauer.
Those who knew Martha will remember her for her kindness, quiet strength, and the deep love she had for her family. She lived a life filled with compassion and faith, leaving behind a legacy that will continue through the many lives she touched.
