Anthony Redington

Anthony “Tony” Redington, age 63, of Shullsburg, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at his home on August 11, 2026. He was born on August 13, 1962, in Cicero,Illinois, to Robert and Fern (Stevermer) Redington.

Tony was a hard-working man who believed in working hard and playing even harder. He spent much of his life around agriculture and there wasn’t a piece of John Deere equipment he didn’t enjoy getting his hands on. When he wasn’t working, Tony could often be found riding his John Deere Gator around the countryside, enjoying a cold beer, and taking in the things he loved most. He had a straightforward way of looking at life and was known for his many memorable mottos, including “Life isn’t fair,” “If you’re going to do something, do it right the first time,” and “If what you’re doing isn’t working, do something different.” His words, his humor, and his way of doing things will be remembered by everyone who knew him.

Tony married Linda (Westemeier) Redington on August 24, 1985, at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Shullsburg. Together they built a life filled with hard work, family, and countless memories.

Tony is survived by his wife, Linda Redington at home; his children, Kyle (Morgan Torstenson) Redington of Shullsburg and Shelby (Kevin) Koltes of Sherrill, Iowa; his siblings, Mary (Stuart) Ohms, Theresa Redington, Margaret Tibodeau, Tim (Vickie) Redington, Tina (Mike Clark) Redington, and Bridget (Jerry) Redington-Overbeck; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Fern Redington and a sister-in-law: Jackie.

Tony lived by his own rules, worked hard, played hard, and never had much use for doing things the way everyone else did. He left behind plenty of stories, plenty of opinions, and plenty of lessons—whether you asked for them or not. And if something wasn’t working, you already knew what Tony would say: “Do something different.”

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church (344 N. Judgement St., Shullsburg) with Father Michael Chika officiating. A visitation will be held Monday, August 17, 2026, from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and again before the funeral on Tuesday from 10:00-10:45 AM with a rosary being prayed at 9:30 AM at St. Matthew's Catholic Church.
