Obituary

Eileen Frances Elgin, age 79, of Darlington, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Lafayette Clinic and Hospital in Darlington. She was born on March 1, 1947, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Francis "Bud" and Ruth (Gerber) McKeon. She graduated from Belmont High School and, on June 26, 1965, married the love of her life, Raymond "Skid" Elgin, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Truman. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and unwavering love, sharing more than 61 wonderful years together.

More than anything else in life, Eileen loved her family. Being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was the role she treasured most. She devoted herself to raising her children as a stay-at-home mother, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. As her children grew older, she worked in the laundry department at Lafayette County Manor, where her caring nature and strong work ethic were appreciated by all who knew her.

Eileen was a faithful member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and found joy in life's simple blessings. She loved crocheting gifts for those she loved, tending her garden, canning the fruits of her labor, caring for her birds, and enjoying countless Sunday afternoons antiquing with Skid. Whether gathered around the Yaas or Euchre table or simply spending time together, Eileen treasured every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her greatest happiness came from seeing her family together, and the memories she created with them will be cherished forever.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Raymond "Skid" Elgin; her children, Karla (Ricky) Hill, Paul (Susan) Elgin, Jodi (Rick) Jenson, and Christopher (Elizabeth) Elgin; her beloved grandchildren, Michael (Iris) Hill, Kari (Adam) Brown, Ryan (Nicole) Jenson, Madeline (Brock) Orr, Kaylee Elgin, Alaina Elgin, and Connor Elgin; five treasured great-grandchildren; her siblings, Micky McKeon, Sharon (Gene) Metz, Randy (Barb) McKeon, and Jane McKeon; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant sister, Judith Ann McKeon; her brothers-in-law, Dennis Rouse and John (Betty) Elgin; and three great-grandchildren.

Eileen's gentle heart, quiet strength, and endless devotion to those she loved will be remembered always. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome and cared for, and her legacy of kindness, compassion, and selfless love will continue to live on through the family she cherished so deeply.
