Obituary
Thomas Jeffery “Tom” Rear, age 72, of Argyle, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, at Lafayette Manor. He was born on October 16, 1953, in Freeport, Illinois, the son of Maurice Burnell and Marian Elaine (Rowe) Rear. Tom grew up in the Argyle area and graduated from Argyle High School with the Class of 1971.
Following high school, Tom proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He completed basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina, and spent 18 months serving aboard the USS Little Rock. He was honorably discharged on March 7, 1974. Tom remained proud of his military service throughout his life and was a member of Argyle American Legion Post #251. One of his most meaningful experiences was having the opportunity to participate in a Badger Honor Flight.
Tom spent much of his life working in agriculture. He farmed alongside his parents until 1997 and later worked at Moore Business Forms. Farming and his rural roots remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.
Tom was united in marriage to Nicolet “Nicki” Cyka in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, they shared a special love for dogs and enjoyed the life they built together until Nicki’s passing.
In his free time, Tom enjoyed dancing, riding horses, flying his ultralight aircraft, and collecting John Deere tractors. Whether working on the farm, enjoying one of his many interests, or simply spending time with those close to him, Tom appreciated the simple things in life and the memories made along the way.
Tom is survived by his sister, Beth (Duane) Kundert of Blanchardville, Wisconsin; nephew: Matthew (Rebecca) Kundert of Prairie Du Sac, Wisconsin, Ross (Erica) Kundert of Mount Horeb and Adam (Nikki) Kundert of Lodi, Wisconsin, one Uncle: Jerry Rowe of Darlington, Wisconsin, 4 great nephews and one great niece and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nicolet “Nicki” Rear; and his sister, Linda, who passed away in infancy.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery with Pastor Daniel Bohlman officiating. Military rites will be accorded by Argyle American Legion Post #251.
