Obituary

Frank E. Teutschmann, age 92, of Shullsburg, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, at Hawkeye Care Center. Born on February 1, 1934, at home in Shullsburg, he was the son of Christen and Lydia (Ubersox) Teutschmann.

Frank was a quiet and steady man who spent his life close to the land he loved. A lifelong resident of the Shullsburg area, he devoted many years to farming, raising dairy cattle and hogs with pride and dedication. He graduated from Shullsburg High School with the Class of 1952 and carried with him the strong work ethic and values that defined his life.

In 1957, he married the love of his life, Margaret Alt, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Cuba City, Wisconsin. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work, sharing nearly seven decades of marriage.

Though a man of few words, Frank enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He liked woodworking, playing Euchre, and trying his luck on the slot machines at the casino. Some of his favorite memories were the trips he and Margaret took together, including travels to Switzerland and Alaska. He also enjoyed relaxing with a cold Brandy Sour and visiting with family and friends.

Frank served his country honorably in the United States Army for two years. He was also active in his community, belonging to the Knights of Columbus and the Shullsburg American Legion, and previously serving on the Lafayette County Dairy Board and Pork Producers. Those who knew him will remember his quiet nature, steady presence, and the kindness and hospitality he showed to others.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; his five children: Sandy (Bruce) Russell of rural Shullsburg, Karen (Rick) Campbell of Monroe, Julie (Craig) Abing of Belmont, Vicki (Andy) Foley of Shullsburg, and Dan (Lynda) Teutschmann of Galion, Ohio; along with 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Godfrey Teutschmann; Mary (Donald) Lindsay; Fred "Fritz" (Mary Louise) Teutschmann; William “Bill” (Jean) Teutschmann; and Jakie (Barb) Teutschmann.

A funeral service will be held Monday, April 13, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg, (235 N. Judgement Street, Shullsburg, WI 53586) with Pastor Nick McElrath of First Baptist Church in Darlington officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 5:15 p.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place at St. Matthew’s Cemetery in Shullsburg at a later date where military graveside rites will be accorded by McCann-Richards American Legion Post #105 of Shullsburg.

Frank will be remembered for his quiet strength, his dedication to his family, and the simple, honest life he lived. His memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
