Obituary

Ruth Ellen Stamm, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Argyle community, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, on February 9, 2026. She was born on May 11, 1950, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, to Virgil Lorance Skattum and Hannah Marie (Glatz) Skattum.

Ruth lived her entire life in Argyle and was a devoted business owner, managing the Yellowstone Campground alongside her husband, Greg. She had a spirit of dedication and care. A proud graduate of Argyle High School, she married Gregory Stamm on October 11, 1980, at Apple Grove Lutheran Church, where both were active members. Ruth generously contributed her time teaching Sunday school, supporting the Argyle Rod and Gun Club, working the polls on election days, and preparing lunches for the Argyle and Pecatonica School Districts.

A devoted family woman, Ruth found great joy in watching Badger basketball and football, cooking, and embarking on family camping trips during her children’s youth. She treasured caring for her family and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren including, starting the day sending the grandkids off to school and eagerly waiting for them to arrive back from school. Ruth made sure she knew every detail about the grandkid's day-to-day operations and loved learning about their latest endeavors.

Ruth is lovingly survived by her husband, Gregory Stamm; sons Matt (Tacara) Stamm and Cody (Heather) Stamm; grandchildren Gunner, Gauge, and Rylee Stamm; brothers David Skattum and Dick (Shelby) Skattum. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Yellowstone Lutheran Church with Reverend Daniel Bohlman officiating. Visiting hours will be from 9:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.

Ruth will be remembered for her warm heart and steadfast devotion to her family and community. She will be fondly recalled as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enriched the lives of all who knew her.

May Ruth Stamm rest in peace, forever held safely home in the hearts of her family and community.

A luncheon will be served at the Argyle Rod and Gun Club following the funeral service.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Agrace Hospice for their wonderful care of Ruth.

Ruth came to my salon when I had it in Argyle. I would get her call that she was ready for her “once a year” overhaul and we did just that once a year, I would book her for the afternoon always an informative time with her. My sympathy to her family. Elaine Vogel
