Clare Rogers, age 91, of Shullsburg, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Mineral Point, WI.
She was born on October 12, 1934, the daughter of Wayne and Rose Henderson. She graduated from Savanna High School in Savanna IL and attended Northern Illinois University for a brief time before she was united in marriage to Sheldon Rogers on October 3, 1953, in Savanna, IL. Together they shared a beautiful life filled with love, family, and community until Sheldon’s passing on March 23, 2007. Clare and Sheldon farmed together in the Shullsburg area most of their lives. She worked seasonally at Swiss Colony in Monroe then for the Senior United for Nutrition (SUN) program in Shullsburg as the site manager and many years at Advance Transformers in Platteville, WI where she retired.
Clare is survived by four children: Mike (Donna) Rogers of Shullsburg, WI; Kevin (Kathy) Rogers of Apple Canyon Lake, IL; Cathy (Randy) Hill of Hollandale, WI; and Christine (Joe Goldberger) Rogers of Mequon, WI. Her Grandchildren: Dianna (Nathan) Wells, Betsy (Tom) Kleiber, Dan Rogers, Nick (Maria) Rogers, Nate (Danielle) Rogers, Mat Rogers, Brad Hill, Lucas (Becky) Hill , Lexy (John) Martens as well as her beloved great-grandchildren: Olivia, Henry, Caroline, Clara and Leo Kleiber, Emma and Giovanni Rogers, Camila and Cash Rogers, Gavin, Liam and Hudson Martens. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sheldon, three great grandchildren: Ella, Lucy and Louis Kleiber and two sisters: Rosemary Henderson and June Henderson.
Clare was a devoted member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Shullsburg and their CCW, a charter member of Friends of the Shullsburg Public Library, Shullsburg Community Development and during her retirement she assisted with the SUN program in Shullsburg. In her free time, she loved being outdoors and could often be found walking through town, enjoying the beauty and warmth of her community. Clare could often be found in her garden caring for her beautiful flowers. Her love for baking and a caring heart for others often came together when she visited those in her community that were unable to leave their own home. Clare deeply cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren- she never missed an opportunity to cheer them on, celebrate their accomplishments, and remind them just how proud she was.
