Obituary

Evelyn I. Schwandt, age 83, of rural Mineral Point, WI, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Upland Hills Hospital in Dodgeville. She was born on November 27, 1941, in Markesan, WI, the daughter of Edward and Irene (Jahnke) Wendlandt. Evelyn grew up in the Markesan/Princeton area and graduated from Markesan High School. She persued a career in nursing and spent many years caring for others. After retirement from nursing at a young age she became a seamstress at a bridal store helping to make each brides day perfect, and found emense joy in making their dream dress become a reality.

Evelyn married Warner Schwandt, who preceded her in death in 2000. Later, through a mutual friend, she met her longtime companion, Roscoe Winters, with whom she shared the past 25 years.

She is survived by her children: Sue Picha of Prairie du Chien, WI, Scott Schwandt of Madison,WI., and Steve (Roxanne) Schwandt, her grandchildren: Shelbi, Nick, Ryan, and Alyssa; one great-grandson: Joseph; her best friend, Roscoe Winters of rural Mineral Point; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.

In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, and fishing. Her home and garden were her sanctuary, and she cherished every moment spent there. Evelyn will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

A burial will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at Grand View Cemetery in Marquette, WI. The Erickson Funeral Home of Darlington, WI, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
