Heinrich Deackman

Heinrich F. Deackman, age 88, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the Lafayette County Manor. Born on July 24, 1937 in Elgin, Ill., Heinrich was a beloved son of Henry and Amanda Deackman. He married the love of his life Carol Ellison in January of 1963 in Elgin.

Heinrich dedicated his life to the noble profession of farming, tending to the land with care and passion. His farming career began at his home farm in Elgin, Illinois until 1966 when he moved to Richmond, Ill. and then again in 1973 to rural Darlington, WI where he and Carol farmed and raised his family until retirement in 2003.

Heinrich's legacy of love and kindness lives on through his children, Lori (Scott) Douglas and John (Debra) Deackman of Darlington, his grandchildren: Kaylin Deackman, Harley (Tanner) Sullivan, Gina (Colton) Long and Matthew Douglas, great-grandchildren: Levi Long, Malorie Sullivan and two more coming soon in the fall of 2025, brother-in-law: Karl Zierer of Huntley, Ill. and a sister-in-law: Nancy Walsh of Wheaton, Ill. He was a source of strength and wisdom for his family, always ready to offer support and guidance.

Heinrich was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carol, and his sister, Marilyn Zierer.

Beyond his role as a loving father, grandpa and great-grandpa Heinrich will be remembered for his warm presence and generosity. Many days you could find him driving members of the Amish community around or out on his UTV checking on the crops in his neighborhood. He loved spending time with his family and loved the joy that each grandchild brought.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 8, 2025 at the Darlington United Methodist Church (550 Main St. Darlington, WI) with Pastor InSun Lee officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at the Erickson Funeral home in Darlington (508 Park Place) from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Friday from 10:00-10:45 AM at the church. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences can be expressed at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
