Obituary

Ronald Daley passed away on 1/18/2026 at 12:09 pm.

Survivor, he pushed the limits with esophageal cancer. It didn't take him, until it did. His final months had guitar solos, political riffs and the like.  His end of days would assume such a consequence, however, Ronald Daley would not allow it.

Ronald Eugene Daley was born on September 24, 1945 in Washington DC.  He grew up in Chicago taking the bus to the Cubs games and going fishing in Wisconsin with his parents and sister.  He went to Culver Military Academy in Indiana for grades 8 - 12, then Carleton College and North Park University for a BA in philosophy.  He then went to Roosevelt University for an MA in English, and Syracuse University for an MA in Theatre Arts.

He moved to New York City in 1976 and met the love of his life, Ginny Bean, working in off- and off-off-Broadway theatre.  They married in 1986 and moved to Wisconsin in 1987.

Whilst he knew he dominated in his profession, he left the big lights to portray his craft and begin his second act. He continued to write and/or direct several plays in Madison, Monroe, and Argyle until fatherhood took all his time.

He was a scholar, philosopher, baseball coach, hockey dad, eagle scout, boy scout troop leader, swim teacher, Encyclopedia book-holder, and teacher of life skills.  He traveled with his wife to interesting places, and looked for humor in all things.  Ginny, The Boys, and his pets were always held in the highest regard.

He is survived by his wife: Ginny; 3 Sons: Jackson, Bryan (Amanda), and Geoffrey; and 3 Grandsons: Riley, Griffin, and Brooks Daley.

His family stood by his side to an extent that couldn't be imagined. They would enjoy your presence for his celebration on Saturday, February 7th from 3:00-5:00 pm at Yellowstone Golf Course in Blanchardville, WI.  In lieu of flowers and memorials, please make a donation to your local school district or humane society.  Online condolences can be made at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.

I was privileged to work with Ron on productions in Argyle and Blanchardville and had multiple conversations with him where he offered much of his philosophy and knowledge. I think he communicated at a level far above the average guy. I liked his turn of a phrase and sense of humor. Our community was entertained and enlightened by Ron's many contributions. On with the show, Ron. Raise the curtain and break a leg!

My sympathy to Ron's family. I remember Ron helping at Pecatonica Elementary School and the excitement when the second graders studied the circus and Ron helped costume the kids. I was pleased to be the school bus driver for Jackson and Bryon and I re-visit those memories often. Such a void for many.
