Obituary
Beverly Jean "Jeanie" Schadewalt, age 84, of Darlington, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, surrounded by her family.
Jeanie was born on May 29, 1941, in Darlington, Wisconsin, the daughter of Delbert and Geneive "Peggy" (Malott) Douglas. She graduated from Darlington High School in 1959.
On October 1, 1960, Jeanie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Harold Schadewalt, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Darlington. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. Jeanie worked alongside Harold on their dairy farm while raising their four children. She truly loved being a farm wife, and her heart was always set on caring for her family.
Jeanie was known for her homemade meals, especially her homemade bread, cinnamon rolls and brownies, which were made with love and shared generously. She also enjoyed crocheting blankets and scarves for those she loved. A devoted sports fan, Jeanie had a special passion for football and proudly rooted for the Green Bay Packers.
After selling the farm, Jeanie worked at the Fair Store and later at The Bargain Nook, both in Darlington, where her warm smile and friendly presence were treasured by many.
Jeanie was especially known for her beautiful, contagious smile. She had a gentle way of making others smile simply by smiling herself. She faced life with quiet strength, grace, and gratitude -- never complaining, always wearing that radiant smile that so many will forever remember.
Jeanie is survived by her two daughters, Peggy (Mike) Kilmer of Reedsburg, WI, and Amy (Denny) Prine of Darlington, Wisconsin. She was blessed with four grandchildren: Meghan (Aaron) Glendenning of Dubuque, Iowa, Signe' Kilmer of Madison, Wisconsin, Korissa (Ricky) Clark of Peosta, Iowa, and her only grandson, Kelton Prine of Cuba City, Wisconsin.
She was also a proud great-grandmother, lovingly known as "GG" to her great-grandchildren: Camdyn, Paisleigh, Kylie, and Colter. She adored her "little munchkins" and treasured every visit filled with love, laughter, and energy. Everyone has been blessed with an afghan made by "GG".
Jeanie is also survived by her siblings: Everette (Marjorie) Malott of Cuba City, Wisconsin, Butch (Jill) Malott of Conover, Wisconsin, and Betty (Jim) Bastian of Iowa, along with many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Schadewalt; her son, Steve; and her daughter, Mary.
Jeanie was a faithful member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Darlington, where she sang in the choir. She loved to sing and was blessed with a beautiful voice. She also supported and helped with 4-H, in which her children were involved.
Jeanie passed with her family at her bedside, surrounded by love and comforted in faith, knowing she would soon be reunited with her Lord and her loved ones who went before her.
