Robert McGranahan

Robert M. “Booby” McGranahan, 73, of Blanchardville, passed away May 15, 2025, at home.  He was born August 15, 1951, in Dodgeville, the son of Harley and Margaret (Rielly) McGranahan.  Booby lived in the Darlington area the majority of his life and graduated from Darlington High School in 1969.  As a young man he worked on many local farms and in construction.  Later in life he worked as a truck driver for several different companies and in between also ran the Pizza Joint in Shullsburg and Bob’s on Main tavern in Darlington.  In his later years he enjoyed making many new friends as a driver for the Amish community.    

Booby is survived by his partner Dottie McGuigan, at home; the mothers of his children:  Donna Chambers and Lynn McGranahan, both of Darlington; his children:  Lisa Paulson (Mark Ruf) of Fayette, Ryan (Betsy) McGranahan of Lamont, Lucas (Trang Nguyen) McGranahan of Madison, and Jared (Kelley) McGranahan of Darlington; his grandchildren:  Michael (Alyssah Kubly), Jacob, and Matthew Ruf; Erin, Sean, and Kathryn McGranahan; and Brooklyn, Clint, Hank, and Waylon McGranahan; a great-grandchild, Lainey Ruf; four sisters:  Anne Veach of Spragueville, IA, Deanna (Jim) Lux of Peosta, IA, Lisa (Keith) Clausen of Preston, IA, and Patty (Ben) Keating of Maquoketa, IA; and two brothers:  Jerry (Peggy) McGranahan of DeWitt, IA, and Mike (Marlene) McGranahan of Andrew, IA.  He is further survived by his step-mother, Betty McGranahan and several step-siblings.  Booby also would have wanted to recognize the Dwayne and Phyllis Thomas family for their special place in his heart.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in law, Joe Veach.  

A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington.  A brief graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM on May 21st at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery with Father Michael Chika officiating. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is assisting the family.
