Obituary

Theodore "Ted" Thomas Williams passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Monroe Hospice Home in Monroe, WI. He was born December 1, 1945, to John M. Williams and Mary Aletha Ganshert Williams. In 1947, he moved from Darlington to Benton, WI. He graduated from Benton High School in 1963. Ted attended and graduated from MATC in Madison with a Culinary Arts degree and Madison Business College.

Ted married Fritzi Minder Rupp in 1981 and became an instant stepdad to Bryan and Brenda Rupp. He worked 23 years for the Super America Convenience Stores. Ted retired from Monroe Truck Equipment in 2013, after 20 years of employment. Ted also tended bar part time for 22 years at the New Glarus Hotel and the Chalet Landhaus. He wanted to thank everyone there for all the wonderful memories.

Fritzi and Ted truly enjoyed the times they were able to travel and visit their many nieces and nephews throughout the United States. They were able to visit Switzerland and Austria twice. In 2019, they were blessed to spend three weeks in India with Father Sudhaker.

Ted was the youngest of five children. He is survived by his wife Fritzi; stepdaughter: Brenda Coplien and her children Vaughan Coplien and his children, Jayce and Clemintine, Garrett Coplien, and Lexi (Cody) Coplien Suiter and their son Jaxton; one sister: Mona Swanson; sister-in-law: Shirley Hastert and brother-in-law: Randy Minder.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John (Rollie) Williams and Mary Aletha (Rachel) Williams; brother: Larry Williams; sisters: Barbara Simon, Mary Lee Jarvis, stepson: Bryan; and three nephews: Thomas John Williams, David Simon, Kyle Minder, sister-in-law JoAnn Williams and brothers-in-law: Fritz Hastert, Bud Swanson, Abe Simon, and Larry Jarvis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 11:00 A.M at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Argyle, WI with Fr. Chamn Gahng Officiating and Fr. Sudhakar Devarapu co-officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Gratiot, WI. A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle (801 E. Milwaukee, St., Argyle, WI 53504). A Rosary will be prayed prior to Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Argyle at 10:30 A.M. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family. Ted wanted to make sure that all the nurses and doctors at SSM - Monroe Oncology Department know how much he appreciated everything they did for him. He also wanted to remind them to always keep smiling.

For those in attendance to the visitation and funeral please wear casual attire per Ted's request.

My deepest sympathy to Fritzi, family, friends and relatives of Ted. We were you the best of friends of friends for many years and had many laughs along the way. If you ever needed someone to talk to Ted was the one a person would go to. We have loved Ted in life, please let us not forget him in his passing. RIP my dear friend.

Ted was such a warm and friendly person. I first got to know him when he worked at the Superamerica in Monroe. Then we always looked forward to seeing and talking with Ted and Fritzi at the New Glarus Hotel. Our sincere condolences to Fritzi and family! Ted was one of a kind!! He will be missed!

Ted was a very good person who was jovial and fun to be around. We got to know him when he bartended at the New Glarus Hotel. We always looked forward to seeing him on Friday nights. He always had a joke or story he’d share with us. We’ll miss you Ted. God’s peace our friend.

I had the privilege of working with Ted and Fritzi at the New Glarus hotel. Fritzi, our love and care go out to you. If you need anything at all don't hesitate to ask any of your friends, even me. Teddy was a great guy got to know him when I worked at the old commercial Bank in Monroe, Fritzi was my supervisor, he always had time to sit and chat and make us laugh. Such great memories. RIP Our deepest sympathies to the family
