Daniel Zuberbuhler

Daniel W. Zuberbuhler, age 49, of Darlington, WI, passed away on May 12, 2025, at Lafayette Hospital and Clinics in Darlington. He was born on May 28, 1975, in Monroe, WI, the son of Ronald Zuberbuhler and Victoria (Goodell) Whitford.

Dan was a proud graduate of Darlington High School, Class of 1994, and later earned his associate degree from Southwest Wisconsin Technical College. Known by many affectionate nicknames—including Dannyboy, Donny, Donjuan, DZ, Ferdondo, and Uncle Dan—he was a well-loved presence in his community.

Dan spent most of his life in Darlington, where he cared deeply for his animals, faithfully followed the Atlanta Braves, and most of all, cherished his role as "Uncle Dan" to his beloved niece and nephew, Zoie and Zeke. He had a kind and generous spirit, always willing to lend a hand. Though a man of few words, he never missed an opportunity to offer a well-timed joke or playful tease. If you ever needed advice on pulling off the perfect Irish goodbye—Dan was your guy.

Later in life, Dan found fulfillment working at Lafayette Hospital and Clinics, where he was a bright light to both staff and patients. His warm smile, gentle heart, and signature humor made a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Dan is survived by his parents, William and Victoria Whitford of Darlington, WI; his brothers, Nick (Mia) Zuberbuhler of Darlington, Wade (Angela) Zuberbuhler of Lena, IL, Thomas (Leah) Whitford of Kenosha, WI, and Steven (Stephanie) Whitford of La Crosse, WI; and his sister, Lindsay Becker of Onalaska, WI, Niece Zoie Zuberbuhler and Nephew Zeke Zuberbuhler, his special Aunt, Suzi Osterday; and cousins: Tim Osterday, Kristin Staver, and Alea Lindsey. He was preceded in death by his father Ronald Zuberbuhler and Uncle Thomas Osterday.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and close friends. A special thank you to Lafayette Hospital and Clinics and Upland Hills Hospice.
