Carol Grindey

Carol Grindey, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Edenbrook in Platteville, WI. She was born on March 30, 1940, at a country home outside of Shullsburg, WI, the daughter of Elmer and Geneva (Bucher) Glick. Her family moved to another farm where she ended up living for approximately 74 years. Carol attended Levitt Country School and then graduated from Shullsburg High School. She then attended the University of Wisconsin - Platteville and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught in Rockford, IL, and then Warren, IL for a few years, but was mostly a substitute teacher in the area while helping her husband on the farm. Carol married William Grindey, her grade school sweetheart on June 22nd, 1963. Carol is survived by her son: Gary (Melissa); a daughter: Kathy (Joe) Bobadilla; five grandchildren that she loved dearly: Matthew and Jacob Grindey, Tyler and Alexandra Bobadilla, and Dakota Thole; two sisters: Lois Smith and Eleanor Marty; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill; and two sisters: Velda Temperley and Dorothy March. Carol will miss her Pioneer Ridge Family where she has lived for the last three years. She especially enjoyed her bingo days and other activities. Carol always had a smile on her face and would make friends easily. A visitation will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N Judgement St., Shullsburg). A short memorial service will follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Libby Rutherford officiating. All are welcome to attend the luncheon to celebrate Carol after the service at the Shullsburg Townsend Center. A private family burial will be held in West Ella Cemetery.
