Barbara Komprood

Barbara J. Komprood, passed away on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on April 6th, 1942, to Milfred and Virginia Homb, Barb leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and hard work. Barb graduated from Darlington High School in the year 1960 before embarking on a journey that would touch the lives of many. She was a devoted wife to Ronald Komprood and a caring mother to her five children - Jerry Burke of Holman, WI, David Burke and his wife Linda of rural Darlington, WI, Lyle Burke and his wife Lisa of Darlington, and Debbie Notter and her husband Josh of Highland, WI. She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother to many, and a caring sister to Connie (Eric) Vogel and Ann (Carl Malizio) Homb. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfathers: Harlan Jackson and Glenn Mummert; one son: Jack Burke; and a brother and sister-in-law: Jerry and Carol Homb. Barb dedicated her early years to working on the family farm until her children were raised, after which she worked at Lands End, where she made a positive impact on all those she encountered. A woman of many talents, Barb enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, bowling, cross-stitching, gambling, and delivering cars for Virtue Motors for several years. She had a true love for her cats and kittens and will be remembered by her family and friends for her famous potato salad. Although she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on through the memories and the love she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her. Per Barb's wishes, a private family service will be held. The Erickson Funeral Home of Darlington is serving the family.
