Gertrude Townsend

You are in our thoughts and prays. Us McCarthy Kids still remember going over to Shullsburg to visit Gert and Bergen and having Sunday dinner with the whole family. What great memories.

Sincere Condolences to the Townsend family. She was a great mother to a wonderful family. She will be missed.

I was unable to attend the wake nor the funeral of my dear friend Gert. She was a wonderful lady. My sympathy to the family.

Helen Wiegman and her family would like to extend our sympathies to Gert’s family. Our mother, Helen, sat at the dining room table with Gert at Epione and we all enjoyed having her with us. She was a sharp, funny and intelligent woman and so proud of all her family! Our deepest sympathies to you.

Accept my prayerful support at this time. I never met Gertrude but her son, Ken, was very helpful to the Dubuque Franciscan sisters at a time when we were making decisions about Xavier Hospital. Ken also was a wise and dedicated member of the Mercy Hospital Board and a responsible civic leader in our city. I am sure his mother was an important person in his life and was proud of him.
