David Larson

David "Dave" Larson, age 69 of Dubuque, IA formerly of Darlington, WI passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at ManorCare in Dubuque. He was born December 9, 1945 in Darlington the son of John and Lenice (Hughes) Larson. Dave graduated from Darlington High School in 1964. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Hoagland in 1968, and later married Linda Rouse on December 17, 1983 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg, WI. Dave lived in Darlington until 1983 when he moved to Shullsburg. He later moved to Dubuque where he has resided since. He worked at John Deere in Dubuque as plant protection from February 11, 1972 until his retirement on February 28, 2002. Dave is survived by one son: John (Paula) Larson of Stoughton, WI; two daughters: Thea (Brad Krieger) Larson of Fate, TX, and Amy Shepherd of Dubuque; one step-son: John Shepherd of WI; one brother: Keith (Mickey) Larson of Manden, North Dakota; two sisters: Paula (Gary) Radle of Rome, WI, and Sondra "Soni" (Leon) Wolfe of Darlington; one sister-in-law: Nita Larson of Belleville, WI; and 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Marilyn Larson, and two brothers: Jack and Dwayne Larson. Dave served in the U.S. Marine Corp from July 1964 until June of 1968. He loved motorcycles and enjoyed riding his Harley. He spent a lot of time at the Rifle Range shooting his guns. Dave also enjoyed working out with his Bull worker. He loved tinkering on anything he could find. Dave's true love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.A memorial service will be held Friday, November 13, 2015 at 12:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main Street, Darlington) with Rev. Jim Droste of Dodgeville United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Lamont Cemetery where military graveside rites will be accorded by Bates-O'Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214. A visitation will be held Friday, November 13, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
