Karen was my first boss at Lands' End in Cross Plains. She was also a lead in the training section there. Her unfailing sense of humor, love of life, and just good old common sense all made it a joy to interact with her. We had a good time on the annual bicycle trip that the product room ladies from work took; I will never forget the time that she and Barb Stark put on a skit for the rest of us; they had us all in stitches! Karen also invited us to her and Dave's home for a party and gift exchange. It was really nice. After I moved to another state, I still enjoyed receiving her "From the Marsh" e-mails that kept us all abreast of what was going on with her and her family. She was just so full of life! We will all miss her tremendously. My sympathy and condolences to her family. Sincerely, Katherine (Kath) Betz

Sue Brown-Oakham Rutland UK I met Karen when Lands End came to Rutland to set up their site. The party of American workers stayed at The Whipper Inn in Oakham, Karen amongst them. Karen was a lovely lady, chatty, warm and kind. We stayed in touch and I came over to visit in 1996, staying in her lovely home, meeting Dave and a number of other friends and family. She took me hiking into the countryside; my memories of the trip are all of the warmth and beauty of the countryside and friends and family. Karen came over to stay in Rutland on a couple more occasions, and we stayed in touch through her e mails and letters and cards. I looked forward to hearing her news from across the pond. A lovely lady; I will miss hearing her news. My deep sympathy to Dave and her extended family and friends.

Shelby Ward Juda Wi As the sister of my sister-in-law, I didn't know Karen very well, but she appeared to be a very loving and warm person. I remember when her sister was ill, her steadfastness in dealing with all that entails was heartening. I had the privilege of being on the list to receive her news letter 'From the Marsh', it was from this news letter that I have heard of her passing. To her family and close friends, I want to express my deepest condolences for the lose of this lovely lady.

Karen grew up on the farm next door to us. We went to Reed school together. Will miss seeing her at the school reunions. We lived at the Swiss Cheese factory on the corner. John Gebhardt
