Daniel D. "Danny" McGranahan, age 76 of Lancaster, WI formerly of Darlington, WI passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Orchard Manor in Lancaster. He was born February 5, 1939 in Darlington the son of Dale and Mae (Helm) McGranahan. Danny graduated from Darlington High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Louise Marie Ward on February 5, 1963 in Seymour Township, WI. He lived in the Darlington area most of his life. Danny farmed and was a carpenter for many years. He later worked at Nelson Muffler in Mineral Point until his retirement in 1997. Danny is survived by his wife Louise at home; his two sons: David (Lorri) McGranahan of Shullsburg, WI and Mark (Lisa) McGranahan of Dubuque, IA; and his grandchildren: McKenzie, Cody, Michelle, and Megan. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Harley McGranahan.Danny was very proud of his two sons and who they grew up to be. He enjoyed building model airplanes and furniture. He was an avid ourdoorsman and hunting enthusiast. Danny was an excellent marksman and founding member of the Darlington Rifle Club. He looked forward to his daily walks on the Darlington trail and was a member of the Darlington United Methodist Church. Danny will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 12:00 P.M. at Centenary United Methodist Church (226 W. Church Street, Shullsburg) with Rev. Jeffrey Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg is serving the family. The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the staff at Orchard Manor for their loving care and compassion that they gave to Danny during his time at the Manor.For those who prefer, a memorial fund has been established in Danny's name.

One of my first memories of Dan is when he & Louise were dating we would fight over who got to sit by Dan on the couch.We loved him so much and wanted to be close to him.

Many fond memories of Dan while growing up and into my adult life. Spent alot of time at Dan and Louise's during their early years of marriage. Dan drove me to school in the mornings while making his daily milk haul( in milk cans )to the Swiss cheese factory. Later in life as an adult with my own children Dan, Louise and I spent countless hours of laughter and solving world problems around their dining room table.He always made me feel welcome and had such an amazing listening ear. It was such an honor knowing him and having him as a special brother in law. Rest in peace, Dan.

Uncle Danny was one of the gentlest humans I ever have had the privilege of knowing. He always had a kind word, a charismatic hum going, and a graciousness for his fellow humans which was unequivocal. I have great memories of Danny and Aunt Louise and sons just sitting around the table and conversing about everything. Uncle Dan's comical spirit will be missed here, but I know he will serve well in Heaven. Love and miss you, Danny. Tanya

When I think of Dan a pipe, a cup of coffee being warmed up in the microwave , or a bowl of chili comes to mind. He love his recliner chair he loved his bible and more than anything he loved his family. Rest In Peace Dear Dan. You are lost, but never will be forgotten . June Elizabeth

The Lord welcomed a very kind and gentle man today. I have fond memories of Dan, always had a joke to tell, his response of "fair to midland" when asked how he was doing. Peanut butter and saltine crackers for a midnight snack. He was a caring family man that will be greatly missed. My thoughts, prayers and hugs are with Louise, David & Mark during this difficult time.
