Obituary
Mary Ellen Reichling, age 77 of Darlington, WI was taken by the good Lord on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. She was born May 28, 1938 the daughter of Joseph and Opal (Nelson) Reichling. After the death of her parents, Mary was able to stay in her home and was cared for by the Theresa and Lane Thompson family. In the early 1990's and until 2012, Mary moved to her new home to live with her brother Richard and Patsy. In the fall of 2012, Mary moved to Pine Lawn House in Highland until recently moving to the Atrium Post Acute Care in Mineral Point, WI.Mary enjoyed a good meal, socializing with family and friends and loved to watch the Green Bay Packers. But most of all, the Hodan Community Services added much joy to her life. Mary attended Hodan for over 40 years and was able to meet many kind and wonderful friends there. Mary was known for her beauty, greeting, and big smile. She had an excellent memory and never forgot a name or birthday. Mary was loved by many, especially by her father who never gave up on her ability. Mary is survived by her brother: David Reichling of Darlington; sister-in-law: Patsy Reichling of Darlington; brother-in-law: Ron Macias of California; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Richard Reichling; one sister: Joan Macias; sisters-in-law: Donna Reichling and Joann Reichling; and one niece: Theresa Thompson.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 26, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington) with Rev. John Bosco Pudhota officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday, December 26, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. until the times of services at the church where a rosary will be prayed at 12:45 P.M. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. For those who prefer, memorials may be given to the Hodan Center (941 Fountain Street, Mineral Point, WI 53565) in Mary's name.The family would like to thank everyone at Pine Lawn, the Atrium Post Acute Care and Upland Hills Hospice for the awesome care they had given Mary, the Hodan Community Services for everything they did to give Mary a wonderful experience in life and most of all to Patsy for dedicating her life for the past 20+ years to giving Mary a life she loved.

I grew up one side road away from Mary Ellen. She was a super person, always so friendly when you saw her and she had a tremendous memory. She could call my daughter, Wendy by name when she saw her, which was not very often. I was always amazed at that. God gained a very special angel when Mary Ellen joined him.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Mary Ellen for many years. She and I met at Hodan Community Services and I have treasure her friendship ever since. She was our spoke lady for several years when we invited people to visit the center. Mary Ellen radiated love for all people that she met especially her friend Tom Schraeder. She loved Jesus and we now trust that He has welcomed her "home" into His loving arms. YOU BETCHA!!!!

Mary Ellen worked for me when I ran the Darlington Country Club. She was always a joy to be around and she always remembered me whenever I would see her. Amazing memory for people she had. God bless her. Fantastic attitude and personality. Wonderful memory.

I grew up across the street from Mary Ellen. She would come across the street on the run to ask Grandma Margaret something about cooking. We had so much fun with her and Joan. I went to the cabin they had at the Dells with Mary Ellen, Joan and Opal. Such wonderful people. She never forgot anything about you. She knew the names of my kids and always asked about them and where they were. She will be missed.

Reading through these comments, I agree with everyone.. Mary Ellen knew you when she saw you, even if it was years between. I knew her from town, of course, and through my work as a nurse. I hope I have Mary Ellen's zest for life, and work ethic, as long as she did! RIP and sympathy to her family. Mary Jo Finkenbnder
