Pearl J. Soper age 97 of Argyle, WI passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington, WI. She was born December 9, 1918 in Fayette Township in Lafayette County, WI, the daughter of P. George and Ethel (Reed) Jacobson. Pearl graduated from Argyle High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Glenn Soper on September 2, 1939 in Dubuque, IA. Pearl lived in the Darlington area most of her life working at both, Oaktron Industries in Monroe and Microswitch in Warren, IL for a number of years. She then worked as an Outreach Worker and was later the Regional Supervisor for The Community Action Program in Grant, Lafayette, Iowa, and Richland Counties. Pearl later worked in the food service department for Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County and later as head cook for the Argyle School District for 10 years.Pearl is survived by three children: Glenn G. (Gayle) Soper of Darlington, WI, Karen (Homer) Troy of Loves Park, IL, and Kristy (Rick) Nelson of Argyle; one daughter-in-law: Audrey Soper, ten grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and seventeen great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Glenn in 1979; one daughter in infancy; and two sons: Roger and Gene Soper.Pearl was a charter member of Cornerstone Lutheran Church, its historical committee, and its Women's Federation. She was a charter member, and past editor of the Lafayette County Historical Society news letter. Pearl Was also a member of Wimodaughsis Chapter #93 of O.E.S. of Darlington and past treasurer of Argyle Lutheran Church, Lafayette County Homemaker, and very active in the Lafayette County Republican Party. Pearl enjoyed doing genealogy for family. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who new her.A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. at Cornerstone Lutheran Church (1540 Old Highway 81, Argyle) with Rev. Ron Brubakken officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 12:30 PM til time of services at the church.
