Obituary
Howard B. Gilbertson age 95 of Argyle, WI, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at New Glarus Home in New Glarus, WI. He was born September 13, 1920 in Wiota Township in Lafayette County, WI, the son of Harold and Mary (Peterson) Gilbertson. Howard was united in marriage to Hazel Trotter on December 21, 1939 in Dubuque, IA. He lived and farmed in Wiota Township on the family farm until 1971 when he retired and moved into the village of Argyle.Howard is survived by four children: Burnell (Carol) Gilbertson of Blanchardville, WI, and Art (Joey) Gilbertson of rural Mineral Point, WI; Margaret "Maggie" Haas of Prairie du Chien, WI, and Alberta "Abby" (Roger Logemann) Cottington of Gratiot, WI; eight grandchildren: Amy (Don) Golackson, Mike (Billie) Gilbertson, Jason (Jaci) Gilbertson, Tammy (Aaron) Harris, Clint (Jenessa) Gilbertson, Colt Gilbertson, Teri Bredeson and Mick Cottington; nineteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Hazel on July 3, 2008; one daughter: Nancy Jiles on September 24, 2011; one brother: Edward Gilbertson; and one sister: Leila Anderson Garrison. Howard was a member of Wiota Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bowling in his younger years and looked forward to playing euchre with his family and friends. Howard will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 21, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Wiota Lutheran Church (6682 State Road 78, South Wayne, WI) with Rev. Mae Jean Zelle officiating. Burial will be in East Wiota Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, March 21, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. For those who prefer, a memorial fund has been established in Howard's name.

I want to send my deepest sympathy to your whole family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sorry we were not able to come to the funeral. Have a lot of fond memories on the farm. He always saddled up the horses for us. They were great friends with my folks and loved to get together to play cards .
