Obituary
Leo Badertscher, age 64 of Darlington, WI passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster, WI. He was born October 17, 1951 in Darlington, WI the son of Otto and Alma (Ast) Badertscher. Leo grew up and lived in the Darlington area. He worked with his father in the family business at Swiss Chalet on Highway 23 north. Leo also worked at Hodan Center in Mineral Point from age 16 and was there for 35 years. For 28 consecutive years he looked forward to attending Wisconsin Badger Camp in Bagley, WI. Leo is survived by four brothers: Paul Badertscher of Darlington, Louis (Olga) Badertscher and John Badertscher both of Kingman, AZ, and Jim (Shari) Badertscher of Milton, WI; two sisters: Darlene Brightbill of Madison, WI and Sue (Greg) Meier of Waconia, MN; and many nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents in 1987; two brothers: William in 1954 and Robert in 1992; and two sisters-in-law: Sylvia Badertscher in 2011 and Laura Badertscher in 2014. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel United Church of Christ (339 E. Louisa Street, Darlington) with Rev. Craig Simenson of Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main Street, Darlington) and from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Wisconsin Badger Camp (1250 US-151 BUS, Platteville, WI 53818) or to the Hodan Center (941 W. Fountain Street, Mineral Point, WI 53565).

Every morning when Leo would come out to breakfast he would stop all of us so that we could smell his aftershave. Leo always wanted to look good and smell wonderful!! We are SO going to miss him and his wonderful laugh we are all so sorry and going to miss him terribly

Leo worked for us at Southwest Graphics for 3 or 4 years, when we first opened up. We made him business cards, that he gave out to everyone. Leo had the greatest smile, he made all of us smile! He loved to tell us about living with Bob, having a hot tub and riding in the Corvette. Leo was a gift. We are so blessed to have been a small part of his life. -Steve & Deb Pickett

I send condolence to Leo's family. For many years I would visit with Leo when he visited the Grant County Fair when I was judging there. I would always mention Paul and Sue and with that get a very big smile. Leo, as well as his friends was surprised that I was able to pronounce Badertscher and then another smile.
