Joyce Rae Lancaster, age 82 of rural Darlington, WI passed away June 16, 2016 at her home surrounded by those who loved her most. She was born December 31, 1933 in Lamont township daughter of Palmer and Olga (Hermanson) Alm. Joyce graduated from Darlington High School. She was united in marriage to Glenn "Bud" Lancaster Jr. on January 5, 1952 at Apple Grove Lutheran Church in rural Argyle, WI. Joyce grew up in Lamont township. She was a life-long farmer alongside her husband while she worked at various other jobs such as: Title Abstract office, Production Credit Association (P.C.A.), and Howery's Machine Company. Joyce retired from the farm in 1999. Since Joyce was one that liked to stay busy, shortly after her retirement she started working again for Lands End in Dodgeville, WI for 9 years. Joyce is survived by her husband Glenn of Darlington, four children Bob (Diane Berget) Lancaster of South Wayne, WI, Deb (Craig) Temby of Darlington, WI, Diane (Tom) Boyle of Wiota, WI, and Tim (Kim) Lancaster of Blanchardville, WI; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandren; one great-great-grandhild; one brother: Paul (Lois) Alm of Argyle; and two sisters-in-law: Sandy (Ray) Whited of Warren, IL and Barb Lancaster of Darlington. She was preceded in death by her parents Palmer and Olga Alm, and mother and father-in-law; Glen Sr. (Frieda) Lancaster. Joyce was a member of Apple Grove Lutheran Church. She enjoyed the time she spent fishing up north, gambling at the casino, and tending to her garden and flower beds. Joyce was an avid Milwaukee Brewer, Wisconsin Badger, and Green Bay Packer fan. She cherished the time spent with her family creating memories that will last forever in her family's hearts. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Lamont Methodist Church (corner of County D and Highway 81, Darlington) with Rev Chris Leistra and Rev. Russell J. Paul of Community Evangelical Free Church in rural Shullsburg, WI co-officiating. Burial will be in Lamont Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, June 20, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main Street, Darlington) and from 9:00 A.M. until 9:45 A.M. on Tuesday at the church. I would like to express my condolences to the family and friends of Joyce Lancaster. The lose of a loved one is never easy and feels so unnatural. That is because we all have the desire to live forever. Our loving Creator has promised that he will one day do away with death (Revelation 21:3,4) and we will have the opportunity to live forever in a paradise (Psalms 37:10,11). There you can welcome your loved ones back (John 5:28,29a). May those verses bring you some comfort in your time of mourning.

Our Sincere Sympathy to all the Children and Grandchildren and Brother Paul of Cousin Joyce. It has been many years since we have spent time together but I remember all our good times together when our families gathered at Palmer and Olga's for good food and playing games with the whole family. I enjoyed staying at their house before Joyce was married. May all of you be comforted by the wonderful Memories and Love she had for all of you. Joyce has been my "sister" since 1952 when I was 6 when she married Bud...,,.., How lucky we all have been to have such a wonderful women in our lives... My family is heartbroken that we have lost her. She has shown us all how to be strong and yet caring....We miss you and will keep you in our hearts forever
