Obituary
Edward John Pahnke, age 64 of Shullsburg, WI passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at his home. He was born April 22, 1952 in Shullsburg the son of Henry "Hank" and Clara (Cridge) Pahnke. Ed graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1970 and later from Southwest Technical College in Fennimore where he received his certificate in welding. He grew up in Shullsburg where he worked for Northern Natural Gas Company in Platteville, WI and later as an electrician in the Lafayette County area. Ed was a genuine man that could light up a room with his chuckle. He will always be remembered as someone that was true to his word and could be trusted with just a handshake. Ed is survived by his two children: Jim (Kim) Pahnke of Shullsburg and Janelle (Jeremy) Flood of Peoria, AZ; five grandchildren: Tyler (Koral) Pahnke, Conner and Abigail Pahnke, and Brianna and Zackary Flood; one great-grandson: Carson Pahnke; and two sisters: Jean (Monty) Ewing of Oregon, WI and Susan Pahnke of Ft. Worth, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother: Jim Pahnke. Ed loved spending time with his family and cherished the memories they created together. He enjoyed spending time outdoors horseback riding, hunting, fishing, and camping. Ed was also an avid woodworker and looked forward to traveling around the United States. He enjoyed listening to live music and dancing when he had a chance. Ed was known to strike up a conversation with anyone and did so when he traveled around to various places. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held Monday, August 8, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Centenary United Methodist Church (226 W. Church Street, Shullsburg) with Reverend Angie Steinhauer of Darlington United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement Street, Shullsburg) and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ed's name.

Dear Janelle, Jim Susan, Jean & Families~~ I am so sorry to hear of Ed's death, he was a good guy. I have many good memories of him from High School. To Ed's family: I was shocked n surprised to hear of Ed's passing. I just ran into him a a fair a couple of weeks ago. He did not appear to have a care in the world. We had the usual hugs n chuckles and went on our way. Just today his name came up with 2 separate clients. The 1st to thank me for the referral on a job done well by him. The 2nd saying we needed Ed to take care of something for us. He will be missed. I've known Ed for a number of years. He has shared various holiday meals with my family, usually enjoying himself! So incredibly sorry and extending my sympathy to all the Pahnke family. My mom and dad were best friends with Hank and Clara and I have wonderful childhood memories of times together at the Pahnke farm. Hadn't seen Ed in so many years. We had a wonderful visit last year when he came to my brother's (John Bredeson) visitation. He even stayed and prayed the rosary with us. He looked so much like his dad I cried, remembering all those happy days when life was so good. He was such a great guy who left this world too soon. God Bless, comfort and strengthen you. My sincere condolences to the family, I'm sure they are shocked as we all are. I remember Ed best from the Methodist Youth Group we had when we were in junior high school. We had a good group of kids back in the 60's and had great times with hay rides, roller skating parties, movies and teenage high jinx. I talked to Ed at the park when he was in Shullsburg for the 4th of July. Can't believe he's gone.

My sincere condolences to the family. Ed and I meant when we were in high school. We shared some great times as kids. Whenever we ran into each other he always had a great smile and inquired as to how life was treating me. Ed will be missed.
