Kenneth Coy

Kenneth E. Coy, age 90 of Shullsburg, WI passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison, WI. He was born July 29, 1926 in Richland County, WI the son of Virgil and Hazel (Miller) Coy. Kenneth graduated from Richland Center High School. He was united in marriage to Shirley Williams on May 24, 1945, celebrating 71 years together this past May. Kenneth served in World War II and was stationed in the Hawaiian Islands where he earned the rank of T4-SGT. After returning from war, he worked as a cheesemaker in Yuba and Ithaca, WI until relocating to Shullsburg where he ran the Shullsburg Creamery. Kenneth later worked at Kelly Springfield for 10 years until his retirement. Kenneth is survived by his wife Shirley at home; eight children he and Shirley raised together: Kenneth (Judy) Coy, Jr. of Browntown, WI, Patricia Hunt of Kansas City, MO, Vicky (Bernie Wyman) Coy of Butler, MO, Becky (Jim) Krakofsky of Burlington, WI, Douglas (Linda) Coy of Cuba City, WI, Melinda (Peter) Cherek of McFarland, WI, Melanie (Lonnie) Troy of Roscoe, IL, and Angela Woodward (Ken Friedrichs) of Monroe, WI; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Virgil and Hazel Coy; one brother: Bernard Coy; one daughter: Penny Ann Coy; one granddaughter: Amy Jo Krakofsky; one grandson: Rodney Corley; one great-grandson: Kamiko Mamaeula; and one son-in-law: Larry Hunt. Kenneth was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg and McCann-Richards American Legion Post #105 of Shullsburg. He loved taking Shirley to the Wheel Inn to eat. Kenneth enjoyed dancing in his younger days, hunting, fishing, and taking his family camping in the north woods. "Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, You are loved beyond words, Missed beyond measures."A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Centenary United Methodist Church (226 W. Church Street, Shullsburg) with Rev. Jeffrey A. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Bloom City Cemetery in rural Richland Center, WI where military graveside rites will be accorded by Bower-Gunnill-Dalton Post #2267 of Richland Center. A visitation will be held Friday, August 26, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement Street, Shullsburg) and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
