Lloyd Kruser

Lloyd A. Kruser, age 90 of Shullsburg, WI passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Evansville Manor in Evansville, WI. He was born January 16, 1927 in Hazel Green Township in Grant County, WI the son of Bernard and Frances (Kuhle) Kruser. Lloyd attended Immaculate Conception School in Kieler through the 8th grade, leaving school to work on the family farm.Lloyd was united in marriage to Mary Margaret Alderson on October 5, 1948 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Benton, WI. Following his marriage, Lloyd began working as a carpenter with his father-in-law "Buckley" Alderson until eventually starting his own business. He was a carpenter in the Shullsburg area for many years until his retirement in 1992 when he sold his business to his son-in-law Paul Ranum. Lloyd never lost his passion for farming; so after he put down his hammer, he worked just as hard at his farm in New Diggings until 4 years ago. Lloyd is survived by his children: Glenn (Susan) Kruser of Evansville, Lynne (Paul) Ranum and Loras (Jean) Kruser both of Shullsburg, and Allan (Kelli) Kruser of Oregon, WI; 11 grandchildren: Dr Tim (Dr. Jacky) Kruser, Anne-Marie (Aaron) Dunbar, David Kruser, Maggie Ranum, Nellie (Chris) Bell, Jasmine (Zeb) Gilliam, Abigail (Garrett) Reymann, Sarah (Robert) Ambrose, Elizabeth (Nick) Moore, Claire and Caiden Kruser; 8 great-grandchildren: Kirsten and Natalie Dunbar, Isabelle and Hannah Ambrose, Brynn and Lydia Moore, and Zander and Zaiden Gilliam; and brothers: Ed Kruser of Potosi, Eldon Kruser of Benton, Cletus (Esther) Kruser of Hazel Green, Harold (JoAnn) Kruser and Gerald (Vera) Kruser both of Kieler. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary in 1974; his great-grandson Zachary Ambrose; and his brother Gilbert Kruser. Lloyd was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Shullsburg, a proud 50-year member of its Knights of Columbus Council #1501, and was a past treasurer and sexton of St. Matthew's Cemetery Association. He was a determined and dedicated man and showed a true passion when it came to his work whether it was carpentry or farming. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren creating memories that will stay with them forever. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church (344 N. Judgement Street, Shullsburg) with Rev. Sudhakar Devarapu officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, January 20, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement Street, Shullsburg) and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
