Obituary
Robert B. "Bob" Stone, age 93 of Darlington, WI passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. He was born June 15, 1923 in Mineral Point, WI the son of Frank and Etta (Brownell) Stone. Bob graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1941. He was united in marriage to Helen Louise Sniff on June 15, 1945 at Willow Springs Methodist Church in Lafayette County, WI. Bob grew up in Mineral Point. Upon his graduation from high school be began working with his parents on the Stone Family Farm in Willow Springs Township. In 1970 he retired from farming and began driving the LP Gas truck for Lafayette County Co-Op Oil in Darlington. In 1975 he was hired by the City of Darlington where he took care of the streets, general repairs, and was responsible for the gas readings. Bob is survived by his three children: Robert Stone, Jr. of Bradenton, FL, Gerald (Patricia) Stone of Crystal, MN, and Sherri (David) Cudmore of Roseville, MN; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Helen on May 17, 2009; and one son: David Stone in 1990. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church in Darlington. He cherished the time he spent with his family creating memories that will stay with them forever. Bob will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church (15691 County Rd. K, Darlington) with Rev. Nick J. McElrath officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Mineral Point. A visitation will be held Friday, March 10, 2017 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. For those who prefer, a memorial fund has been established in Bob's name.

Thoughts and prayers to you at this difficult time. I got to know Bob while "dad" Irving was at Sienna Crest. We had some great conversations at the dinner table. He loved and talked about his family with a smile.

Thinking and praying for you. I have very fond memories of Bob..as a little girl we lived next to him. He was always so kind and encouraging with his smile and open door to play and brush Sandy. Never hesitated to bring a tag a long to church.

I got to know Bob and Helen as their doctor for about ten years. When he came into the office we always had a good conversation even before we got into medical stuff. His gentleness and care and love for his wife as she faced health problems were an inspiration and a model. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Joe GIbes

Bob and Helen Stone were wonderful long-time friends of my parents, Patricia and Kenneth Cockings. We have fond memories of their extraordinary kindness. Their home was always warm and welcoming to their friends and their children. Bob will be missed but his generosity and kindness will remain in our memories.
