Juliette Sowl

Juliette J. Sowl, 89 of Argyle, Wisconsin and Winter Garden, FL passed away Thursday, March 23 in Winter Garden with her sons near her side. Juliette was born in Appleton WI, March, 21st 1928. She finished nurses training at St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing and started her 40-year career as an RN at UW-Wisconsin Hospital and Clinic. On March 17, 1951 she married Frank J. Sowl. They were married for 61 years. Frank and Juliette raised their sons in Monona Grove, WI. They were charter members of Buckeye Evangelical Free Church, Madison, WI, and she was active in her home churches wherever she lived including Madison, Bayfield, and Argyle, Wisconsin, and Winter Garden, Florida. In 1976, Frank and Juliette purchased a former dairy farm on the north end of Madeline Island in Lake Superior, affectionately known to the family as the "Sowl Farm." Juliette served as the Island Nurse for several summers. She is survived by her four sons: Keith (Carol) and Jeff both of Madeline Island, WI, Jon (Judi) of Sturgeon Bay, WI, and Kerry (Deborah) of Madison, WI; 11 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Juliette was preceded in death by her dear husband Frank J. Sowl; her parents George and Mary (Butz) Grimstad; her brother Tom; and sister Marianna. Juliette loved painting, writing to the editor, and believed that the squeaky wheel got the grease. She was never afraid to be the squeaky wheel if she believed in something passionately enough, and to let that be known, as well as the fact she was NOT politically correct!" She loved life, her beloved husband, and spending time with her sons and their families. Most of all Juliette loved the Lord whom she is now with. A Celebration of Juliette's life will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 11:15 A.M. at Cornerstone Lutheran Church (1540 Old Highway 81, Argyle) with Rev. Ron Brubakken officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday May 6, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church.
