Pauline Halvorson, age 75 of rural Darlington, WI passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born August 9, 1941 in Darlington the daughter of Irving "Pat" and Julia (Kendall) Nevels. Pauline graduated from Darlington High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Clinton Halvorson on August 1, 1959 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. Pauline grew up in Darlington. After her marriage to Clinton she began farming with him in Fayette Township for 52 years. She also worked seasonally at Swiss Colony in Monroe, WI for a few years. Pauline is survived by her husband Clinton at home; four children: Pat Halvorson of Cobb, WI, Julie (Tim) Zasada of Platteville, WI, Jim (Leslie) Halvorson of Columbus, WI, and Tom (Patty) Halvorson of Neenah, WI; 8 grandchildren: Blake, Travis, P.C., and Kyrin Halvorson, Tayna Zasada, Erica Halvorson, and Connor and Brianna Halvorson; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters: Lula Elmer and Patricia Prine. Pauline was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington and it's Council of Catholic Women. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren creating memories they will remember forever. Pauline enjoyed spending her free time reading, going to the dog track, and always looked forward to cooking for her family and friends.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. with a time of "family remembrances" beginning at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington) with Rev. John Bosco Pudhota officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Pauline & I tried to phone weekly ... our last conversation was 2.5 hours ... when we (unknowingly) said our last "goodbye, I love you"! Here are some daisies, Pauline, like we picked together on the farm!

I am truly sorry for the loss and pain that Clinton and the Halvorson family and friends are feeling because of losing Pauline recently in death. Most of us have had to endure the sorrow of losing a loved one in death. What helped me the most was prayer and faith in God's promises like found here at 1 Corinthians 15: 26 and it tells us: "And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing." God's kingdom that Jesus taught us to pray for at Matt. 6: 9, 10 will bring about these wonderful promises, including the resurrection. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow, but we are all guaranteed a resurrection. (John 5:28, John 6:40, John 11:23-25) Also, Titus 1: 2 tells us this promise of a resurrection: "is based on a hope of the everlasting life that God, who cannot lie, promised long ago." Isaiah 26:19 "Your dead will live......And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life." Isaiah 25:8 "He will swallow up death forever. For Jehovah himself has spoken it." Somehow we missed news of the passing of Pauline and were not able to attend the visitation or funeral. Annie and I are truly sorry to hear that she has passed on and want to offer Clint and the rest of the family our warmest condolences. Pauline will be missed.
