Shirley Zimmerly

Shirley J. (Lyne) Zimmerly, age 76 of Shullsburg, WI passed away August 2, 2017 at Willow Valley Assisted Living in Shullsburg. She was born August 26, 1940 in Shullsburg the daughter of Curtis and Hazel (Cherry) Lyne. Shirley attended Shullsburg High School. She was united in marriage to Phillip "Joe" Zimmerly on February 14, 1976 in Darlington, WI. Shirley grew up in Shullsburg and worked for various offices in the tri-state area including many years at Mc-Mor-Han Trucking Co. in Shullsburg. Shirley is survived by her children: Jim (Petra) Zimmerly of Big Lake, MN, Cherie (Eugene) Uehling and Heidi (Dan) Sigwarth both of Shullsburg; nine grandchildren: Tony Zimmerly, Brianna Zimmerly, Andrew, Sam, and Sadie Uehling, Bradley, Benjamin, Hildie, and Joelle Sigwarth; three special nieces: Twyla Mick who was constantly by her side throughout this journey; Sherry (Dick) Roddick; and Kathyrn (Scott) Varner; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Phillip in 2016; two brothers: Howard and Dale Lyne; and four sisters: Violet Kilcoyne, Adda Gehrt, Alice Hendrickson, and Dorothy Dorsey. Shirley was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, its Catholic Daughters, and was a proud member of the McCann-Richards American Legion Auxiliary in Shullsburg and the Legion Bag Ladies. She was particularly fond of taking road trips with her husband. She cherished the time she spent with her family creating memories they will all remember forever. Shirley will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church (344 N. Judgement St, Shullsburg) with Rev. Sudhakar Devarapu officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement Street, Shullsburg) where a rosary will be prayed at 2:00 P.M. A visitation will also be held Monday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Shirley's name.
