Alan F. Brandt, age 56 of Darlington, WI passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at his home in Darlington, WI. He was born December 24, 1960 the son of Francis and Mary Jane (Hoeper) Brandt. Al graduated from Cuba City High School in 1979. He grew up in rural Cuba City. Al's love for music began at the age of 7 when he started playing drums. He later played drums, trumpet, and sang vocals in the Jack Busch Orchestra and then with the Frankie Brandt Big Band. Following his graduation from High School he began working for the Lafayette County Land Conservation Department where he worked for 35+ years until his retirement in 2016. Al is survived by his parents; Frankie and Mary Jane Brandt of rural Cuba City; three children: April Brandt of Platteville, WI, Alix Brandt of Madison, WI, and A.J. Brandt of Darlington; four siblings: Roger (Nancy) Brandt of New Berlin, WI, Gary Brandt of Darlington, Donna (Mark) Brokowski of Evanston, IL, and Ken Brandt of Cuba City, WI; He is also survived by Lori Garvey, his former wife and the mother of his three children and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister: Joan Goldberg; his brother-in-law Jim Goldberg; his paternal grandparents: Oscar (Alinda) Brandt; and his maternal grandparents: Adolph (Bernice) Hoeper. Al was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a branch of our Lady of Fatima Parish, in Darlington and was a 4th Degree member of its Knights of Columbus. He was a proud honorary member of Bates-O'Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214 of Darlington and was a past volunteer for the Darlington Optimist Club. Al had an abundance of musical talents and enjoyed sharing his gifts with his family and friends. His other passions were his children, cooking, and reading. Al cherished his family and the memories they created together more than anything else in the world. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friendsA "Time of Family Remembrance" will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 10:45 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Joji Reddy and Rev. Thomas Kelley of St. Francis Catholic Church in Cross Plains, WI concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery (Seymour Township, Wisconsin). A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church where a rosary will be prayed at 5:00 P.M. A visitation will also be held Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Al's name.

Al served his Lord, Family, Community and Friends. A great American. Always a gracious host, and loved to have a few laughs and a good time whenever we got together. We've eating many meals Al had prepared either at his Home, at the Legion, at a K. C. function, or helping at so many other community gathering he volunteered to help at and was never disappointed with anything he was involved in preparing. We always kidded him he was the reason we were both at least 20lbs overweight and he would always just give us that big laughing grin, but not say a word. Was an honor to call him friend and brother-in-law. May he enjoy all the company that have gone before and find comfort in Gods endless love. Heaven will be well entertained and fed with Al's arrival. Save us a good spot for when we get there to join you Al man! By the way Chris wants a New York Strip and I'll have my usual. And we want to see that big grin on your face along with that devilish laugh again. We know you will make Heaven ROCK! Love, Buck/Chris

I am so very sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one in death is such a difficult thing to experience. Please be comforted by the promises in the Bible. Jesus tells us at John 5:28, 29 that all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. What a loving provision put in place by the God of all comfort so we can have the assured hope of seeing our dead loved ones live again one day. Meanwhile as I pray for that day to come I ask Jehovah God to bless your family and give each of you the strength to endure this most trying time.

I still remember when young Al came to work at the Lafayette County Land Conservation Department after he had just graduated from high school. He was a quick study and soon he could draft and install many conservation practices for farmers of Lafayette County. When we got our first computers Al was.quick to understand how and why the computers operated. He never ran out of patience with the rest of us till we all understood the computers operation. Al was a pleasure to work with over so many years, he was smiling and happy. I have a ton of good memories from knowing and working with Al. Cathy Mueller
