Richard Neuenschwander

Richard B. "Dick" Neuenschwander, age 86 of rural Darlington, WI passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 at Select Speciality Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born November 19, 1930 in Monroe, WI the son of Ben and Dorothy (Baltzer) Neuenschwander. Dick grew up in Blanchardville and graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1948. After graduation, Dick attended the University of Wisconsin - Platteville for one year before joining the U. S. Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953. Upon returning from the Service he moved to Lamont and began working for Curry Brothers Trucking and later Grande Cheese in Darlington. Dick is survived by his very special friend Diane Boyle and his God-son Tommy Kammerud and many special friends. His longtime Lamont neighbors were his family and he was forever grateful for them. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother: Daniel Neuenschwander. Dick was a member of Lamont United Methodist Church in rural Darlington. He was a proud 63-year member of Argyle Masonic Lodge, serving as Worshipful Master in 1967. He was a 49-year member of Zor Shrine in Madison and Bates-O'Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214 of Darlington. Dick was an avid reader and could always be found with a book or one of the many magazines he subscribed to, in his hands. In addition, he enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting both deer and bear and fishing up north. He kept himself busy by bowling, playing softball, and taking care of his famous large garden in Lamont. Dick was a huge sports fan and always cheered for the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Lamont United Methodist Church (14543 County Road D, Darlington) with Rev. Christopher Leistra officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery where military graveside rites will be accorded by Bates-O'Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214 of Darlington. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main Street, Darlington) where Masonic services will be held at 7:00 P.M. A visitation will also be held from 9:00 A.M. until 9:45 A.M. on Friday at the church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
