Lonnie L. Nevels, age 69 of Darlington, WI passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Orchard Manor in Lancaster, WI. He was born December 25, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Orville and Audrey (Anderson) Nevels. He lived in the Darlington area most of his life. Lonnie worked for GreenCo Industries in Monroe, WI for a number of years. Lonnie was preceded in death by his father: Orville; and mother: Audrey.Lonnie was a member of First Baptist Church in Darlington.Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main Street, Darlington) with Rev. Nick J. McElrath of First Baptist Church in Darlington officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 8:00 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.

I haven't seen Lonnie for years, but he was was of the most friendly young men you would ever find. My sympathies to the family.

Lonnie was a very special friend who I was fortunate to get to know when we worked together at Hodan Community Services (formerly Hodan Center) in Mineral Point. We had many talks about things from the 50s' and 60's that we both enjoyed: Milwaukee Braves baseball, television westerns, and Elvis. He had a gentle soul and a kind heart and I will miss him. May God's eternal peace be with you my friend!
