Brian M. Hackl, age 50 of DeForest, WI formerly of Darlington, WI passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at his home in DeForest. He was born November 20, 1967 in Darlington, the son of Charles and Lucille (Parkinson) Hackl. Brian grew up in Darlington, graduated from Darlington High School in 1986, and attended Southwest Technical College in Fennimore, WI. He worked for Henricksen Company in office design and furniture sales. Most recently, he worked as Vice President of Facility Operations at WPS in Madison. Brian had a strong work ethic and zest for life which made work enjoyable for him and his co-workers.Brian is survived by his son: Logan Hackl of Deforest; seven brothers and sisters: Jayne Russell of Darlington, Gary Hackl of Brodhead, WI, Greg (Kathy) Hackl of Florissant, MO, Lynn (Dan) Smith of East Troy, WI, Gail (John) Reichling of rural Darlington, Tom (Sally Ryan) Hackl of rural Shullsburg, WI, and Mary (Scott) Heinberg of Darlington; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Lucille Hackl. Brian's son, Logan was the pride and joy of his life and he cherished every moment he got to spend with him, whether it be watching him excel in sports or spending time with him at home. Brian loved his family and the memories they created together. Brian had the most contagious laugh and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He was known to tell the best stories and had an uncanny ability to make people laugh. Brian loved to go boating on Madison's chain of lakes with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. A Time of Family Remembrance will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington) with Rev. Joji Reddy officiating. Burial will be Holy Rosary Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, January 15, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at St. Olaf Catholic Church (623 Jefferson Street, DeForest WI, 53532). A visitation will also be held Tuesday from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Brian's name.

My heart goes out to Brian's family and friends at this extremely sad moment. Please find comfort in knowing how much Brian enjoyed life and loved living it with his friends and family. Logan and Family: You have my deepest sympathy. Brian reported to me at WPS. We had a great working relationship. He was most certainly one of a kind. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He was an inspiration to us all. He was very caring. We are all in a state of shock at WPS. Trust me when I tell you that Brian was loved by his team at WPS and by everyone else that knew him and worked with him. I will always cherish my memories of Brian and I will never forget him.
