Jon Erickson

Jon M. Erickson, age 62 of rural Blanchardville, WI passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born February 12, 1955 in Monroe, WI the son of Myron and Burnette (Abraham) Erickson. He was united in marriage to LuAnn Wilhelmson on October 14, 1978 at Argyle Lutheran Church in Argyle, WI. Jon grew up in Argyle where he graduated from Argyle High School in 1973. Following his graduation, he farmed and raised Quarter Horses with his dad in Argyle Township. In 1978, Jon and LuAnn moved to rural Blanchardville where they continued to farm and raise their family. Jon is survived by his wife LuAnn at home; two children: Leif (Megan) Erickson of Mt. Horeb, WI and Jesse (Lindsay) Erickson of Barneveld, WI; five grandchildren: Alexis and Sophia Erickson, Samuel, Millie, and Hank Erickson; step-mother: Lavonne Erickson of Blanchardville; and one sister: Jana (Tom) Hirsbrunner of La Crosse, WI; two step-sisters: Lynn (Steve) Rear of rural Argyle and Julie Ann Paulson of Sussex, WI and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1975; his father in 1995; and one brother: Jerome Erickson in infancy. Jon was a member of Yellowstone Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville and its church council. He was a proud member of Blackhawk Saddle Club, Wisconsin Horse Racing Association, and Wisconsin Quarter Horse & Thoroughbred Association. He was extremely proud of Leif's Deal, winning the Wisconsin Quarter Horse of the year in 1991. His passion for quarter horse racing was always obvious and he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his horses. He was an excellent high school athlete and set a number of records over the years. Jon was an avid sportsman and loved to hunt deer, pheasant, and turkey. He cherished his family more than anything and loved watching his children and grandchildren during their activities and sporting events. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Yellowstone Lutheran Church (4472 Saints Road, Blanchardville) with Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman officiating. Burial will be in Yellowstone Lutheran Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Yellowstone Lutheran Church. A visitation will also be held Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family.
