David M. Stephens, age 79 of rural Argyle, WI passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 3, 1939 in Monroe, WI the son of Lester and Mercedes (Quinn) Stephens. David graduated from Argyle High School in 1957 and later received his Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture Education from the University of Wisconsin - Platteville in 1960. He was united in marriage to Nathalie Steiner on August 27, 1960 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Argyle. David was raised in rural Argyle where he has lived and worked his entire life on the family farm. David is survived by his two children: Jana (Matt Ziebarth) Stephens of Beaver Dam, WI and John Stephens of Argyle; and two grandchildren: Dan and Sam Ziebarth of Beaver Dam. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Nathalie in 2007; one son: Robert Ray Stephens; and one daughter: Mary Kathryn Stephens. David was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Argyle. He was a proud member of Monroe Moose Lodge Post #754, served as chairman and board member of Jordan Township, and was a board member of the Woodford State Bank for 29 years and served as chairman. David was a collector of antique Farmall tractors and enjoyed attending farm auctions. He will be remembered for his quick wit and jovial sense of humor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (213 N. Lafayette Street, Argyle) a branch of St. Isidore Parish with Rev. Paul Eruva officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, June 4, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Robert Hegeman and all of the nursing staff of the Monroe Clinic Oncology Department, and the staff of Monroe Home Care and Hospice for exceptional care they gave our dad and grandpa. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in David's name.

Jana and John, we were David's new neighbors on Stagecoach Road for only two years (the former Joe Mast farm). I only knew David for two short years, but long enough to know that he was an honorable man, a pillar of the community, and a good neighbor. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'd like to share some real hope with you. In Psalms 146:4 tells the condition of the dead. "His breath goeth forth, he returneth to the earth and that very day his thoughts perish." In Acts 24:15 the bible promises a resurrection of our loved ones back to earth. When Jesus resurrected Lazarus from the dead, he brought him back to earth. He's going to do that on a much larger scale in the future. In Psalms 37:11+29 says man will live forever on the earth in peace. That was God's original purpose, for Adam and Eve to live forever in the garden of eden. God's purpose hasn't changed. In Isaiah 45:18 says God created the earth to be inhabited. That's why he gave his son to die for us, John 3:16, so we could have everlasting life. In Revelation 21:4 says there'll be no more pain or death. Since there's no pain or death in heaven, those are future conditions on earth under God's kingdom arrangement. JW.org
