James Bennett

James L. "Jim" Bennett, age 83 of Shullsburg, WI passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 at his home in Shullsburg. He was born July 16, 1935 in Benton, WI the son of Thomas and Mildred (Fields) Bennett. Jim attended School in Benton. He was united in marriage to Evelyn M. Quiylynn in Hazel Green, WI. Jim grew up in Benton. When he turned 18 he joined the United States Air Force where he served as an airplane mechanic. After the service and shortly after his marriage to Evelyn they moved to Shullsburg where they raised their family. Following his retirement, he remained in Shullsburg where he lived out his day comfortably at home. Jim is survived by one son: Rick (Sharon Deiter) Bennett; three grandchildren: Zach McGranahan of Darlington, Joshua Deiter of Boscobel, WI and Shyan Bennett of Shullsburg; three siblings: Dale Bennett of Benton, Karen (Chuck) Ballard and Gloria Spore both of Shullsburg and Mary Knobbe of Rockford, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Evelyn; one daughter: Rigena Bennett; two brothers: Charles Bennett and Melvin Bennett; one sister in infancy: Leona Bennett; two brothers-in-law: Babe Knobbe and Orval Spore; and one sister-in-law: Dianne Bennett. Jim enjoyed fishing, working on tractors, and racing stock cars. He loved to spend his days drinking coffee on Tom Pedley's porch "shootin the breeze". Jim cherished the time he spent with his family creating memories they will all remember forever. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
