Obituary
Harold Francis Crist, age 89 of Darlington, WI passed from this earth on Sept. 16, 2018. He was born on September 30, 1928 to Peter Francis and Mary Margaret (Flood) Crist. He lived all his life in Darlington where he graduated in 1946. Harold was united in marriage to Phyllis Jean "Jeanie" Evenstad on May 27, 1950 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He worked as a lineman with Bell Telephone from 1946-1951 and then was an insurance consultant for State Farm until 1981, retiring due to health. Through the years Harold enjoyed every type of sporting event as a participant, referee and spectator. Whether it was the Packers, the Cubs, the Badgers, or his beloved Redbirds, he knew the team, their players and had words of wisdom to share. He is survived by his wife, Jeanie at home; their children: Rhonda (Tom) Wonders, Renee (Stan) Krahenbuhl all of Darlington and Rod Crist of Eau Claire, WI; seven grandchildren: Lindsy (Rod) Wessel, Kari (Roon) Janecke, Crissy (Lee) Black, Ryan (Robin) Crist, Keegan Crist, Adam Krahenbuhl and Bradin Krahenbuhl; nine great-grandchildren Thomas and Nathan Wessel; Cade, Tessa and Beau Janecke; Addison and Tyson Black; and Willoh and Claire Crist. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters: Gertrude Boll, Mildred Kelly, Charlotte Carpenter, and Phyllis Thomas. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Darlington Fire Department. Harold's love for music lives on in the voices of his family. His unique ability to make everyone he met feel special will never be matched. He quietly made his Irish exit from this earth but will live on forever through the abundance of stories he shared and memories made. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:30 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a branch of Our Lady of Fatima Parish (104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington) with Rev. Joji Reddy officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:15 A.M. at the church. To the entire Crist family, I am so so sorry for your loss but what a wonderful life Harold lived. I'll always remember Harold as one of my favorite and nicest men I knew. Know matter what age young and on up he was always the same to me and it's know wonder I choose Harold as my very first insurance representative. Gods Blessings to Jeannie and to all who was touched by Harold. Rest in peace!

When I was a little boy, Harold used to come over to our house and bring his banjo and sit and play music with my dad Glenn Wiegel. One of the earliest memories I have are of me at age 4 or 5 sitting on the floor at their feet banging on an acoustic guitar, 'jamming' along with them. They must have been incredibly patient to put up with me! Thank you Harold as I'm sure you played a part in me becoming a musician. Rest In Peace. Richard Wiegel
