Lavonne E. Erickson, age 90, of Blanchardville, WI passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 at her home in Blanchardville following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 8, 1928 in Dodgeville, WI, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Leuthold) Peterson. Lavonne graduated from Cobb High School, class of 1946. She received her teaching degree from the Green County Teachers Normal, Monroe and UW-Platteville. Lavonne married Julian Paulson on March 26, 1949 in Argyle, WI. They shared 21 years before Julian's death on May 12, 1970. Lavonne married Myron J. Erickson on September 29, 1979 at the Argyle Lutheran Church. Myron preceded her in death on April 17, 1995. Lavonne is survived by four children: Lynn (Steve) Rear of Argyle, WI; Julie Ann Paulson of Sussex, WI; the late Jon (LuAnn) Erickson of Blanchardville; and Jana (Tom) Hirsbrunner of LaCrosse, WI; and 7 grandchildren: Meegan (Lucas) Ritchie; Eric (Kristen) Hirsbrunner; Leif (Megan) Erickson; Deidrik (Trina) Rear; Melissa (Matthew) Cox; Jesse (Lindsay) Erickson; and Taylor Roehr; her 13+ great-grandchildren: Addison, Tommy and Lucas Hirsbrunner; Sam, Millie and Hank Erickson; Madison and Brayden Pauly, Easton Rear and their soon-to-be little brother; Alexander and Charlotte Cox; and Alexis and Sophia Erickson; two special Norwegian daughters: Ingun Ulstein and Kristin Tonga; her sister, Norma Peterson, brother Dale (Janice) Peterson; brother-in-law Roy Meier; sister-in-law Doris Erickson; and many nephews, nieces and friends. Besides her husbands, Lavonne was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Helen Meier and Barb Cooper; and her son, Jon Erickson. Lavonne loved children and taught school in the Blanchardville area for over 34 years and worked as a substitute teacher for another 17 years. She was an active member of the York Memorial Lutheran Church of rural Blanchardville and Retired Educators of Green County; served on the Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County Foundation board; Blanchardville Historical Society, Blanchardville Women's Club; and a regular at the Thursday Morning Coffee Group. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at York Memorial Lutheran Church (N9407 Highway 78, Blanchardville) with Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman of Apple Grove/Argyle, Yellowstone Lutheran Churches officiating. Burial will be in York Memorial Lutheran Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, October 26, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at York Memorial Lutheran Church and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. Dear Cousins, I send my condolences in the passing of wonderful Lavonne. I am thankful she kept the Leuthold family reunion going for so many years. I hope us cousins can keep it going. Dear Lynn and Julie, I was so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was a bright spot in our lives, one of my Aunt Flossie's favorite cousins, and because of that we were fortunate enough to get to know her, too! I was hoping to be able to drive Flossie down to the funeral, but had already promised my daughter-in-law and grandkids that they could come and stay with me this weekend. She was loved beyond words, she will be missed beyond measure, her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. One of my favorite memories of Aunt Lavonne was when she opened her home as part of a Blanchardville Christmas walk years ago. I remember her so-called theme was angels and you can see all of her angelic ornaments as she stood next to the tree. It was truly a wonderful day in the village, and we all appreciated Lavonne's generous contribution.

Lynn, Julie. So sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. Lavonne and I were close friends when I moved to Blanchardville. I lived across the street from her and we quickly became good friends. I was fortunate to visiting with her two years ago and she told me she was planning on a trip overseas. I believe she was in remission at that time. When my oldest daughter, Kimberly was born, we traveled with her to Eau Claire. I remember when her first granddaughter was born and I went over to see the new baby girl. We were changing this newborn baby and this little baby girl completely turned over in front of our eyes. We could not believe it, as newborns just don’t do that. I loved all my visits with Lavonne.
