Francis Humphrey

Francis M. Humphrey, age 87 of Shullsburg, WI passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at his son's home in Monticello, WI. He was born October 22, 1931 in Rawls County, MO the son of Henry and Sylvia (McSherry) Humphrey. Francis lived in Leadmine, WI for a number of years where he proudly owned and operated Humphrey Garage. In 1988, he began working for Speedway Sand & Gravel in Madison, WI until his retirement in 1993. After retirement he resided in Dubuque County Iowa with his special friend.Francis is survived by the mother of his children: Marlilyn Humphrey of Belmont, WI; children: Francis "Butch" (Kay) Humphrey of Houston, TX, Judy (Harry) Gurno of Briggs, TX, Sandra (Ingo) Lamberg of Shullsburg, Jerry (Mary) Humphrey of Monticello, WI, Shelly (Rob) Humphrey of Fennimore, WI, Dave (Tammy) Humphrey of Shullsburg, Curt (Jackie) Humphrey of Calamine, WI and Sheri (Dennis) Farrey of Belmont, WI; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 7 step grand-children; two nephews: Steve Humphrey and Fredrick Hofer of Shullsburg; one sister-in-law: Delores Humphrey of rural Leadmine, WI: and one brother-in-law Fredrick Hofer of Cuba City, WI. He was preceded in death by his father on January 25, 1997; his mother on April 2, 2005; one son: Donnie Humphrey in 2011; a sister: Edna Mae Hofer in 1980; a brother: Morris Humphrey in 2015.Francis was a member of Leadmine Primitive Methodist Church in Leadmine. He could always be found with his head under a hood of a car working on vehicles and other equipment, as this was always his passion. Francis loved to travel, dance and play his guitar and harmonica. He cherished the time he spent with his family creating memories they will all remember forever. Francis will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Centenary United Methodist Church (226 W. Church Street, Shullsburg) with Rev. Stanton Bockwoldt officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg. A visitation will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg is serving the family.
