Eleanor M. Erickson, age 84 of Darlington, WI passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Shullsburg Home in Shullsburg, WI. She was born in Darlington on July 9, 1934, the daughter of Charles and Eleanor (Poppa) Pickett. She graduated from Darlington High School. Eleanor lived in Waukesha before returning to Darlington in 1970. She worked at Borg Instrument, Crandall Oil, both of Darlington, and later at Point IGA in Mineral Point until her retirement. Eleanor is survived by her three children: Bernadine "Bernie" (Bruce) Holcomb of Clinton, WI, Geraldine "Geri" (Tom) Hammes of La Crosse, WI, and Mike (Linda) Erickson of Darlington; 7 grandchildren: Shanna (Mike Calabrese) Holcomb, Tyler (Jessica) Holcomb, Jessica Hammes, Eryn Hammes, Mitchell (Katelyn) Erickson, Alex (Kelsi) Erickson, and Brett (Shannon McDaniel) Erickson; three sisters: Eileen Barth of Shullsburg, Betty Merriam of Darlington, and Beverly Martin of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Raymond, Roger and Robert Pickett; two sisters: Marion Hocking and Iva Kammerud. Eleanor was a member of the Darlington United Methodist Church in Darlington. She loved going on long walks and spending time with her family. She always looked forward to attending her grandchildren's activities over the years. Eleanor was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her beloved Redbirds. She was also a huge fan of Edy's Caramel Delight ice cream and could often be seen walking home with her gallon of Edy's in tow. Eleanor will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Darlington United Methodist Church (546 Park Place, Darlington) with Rev. Angela Utter officiating. Burial will be held in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the church from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. My sympathy to you all...I won’t be attending anything due to my health but my thoughts n prayers will be with u all...I was just thinking of her n was wondering where she was living n made a mental note to ask you Mike but won’t have to know... she was a very nice lady n would always see her walking in the park on her way to or back from town! Love to all!

Please know that you are all on my mind and in my prayers. Eleanor was such a great lady. Loved all my visits with her when I saw her. Such a hard working lady. My love to all of you as you face these days ahead saying goodbye and celebrating her life.

Marie as she was called by her nieces and nephews was always a cutie to me. My brother Ray and I stayed at the farm one summer in the early years. We had fun and were looked after. I think Eleanor looked up to my mom Marion and my dad Alvin. Family is a blessing and we have a good one. Aunt Eileen and I visited a while back. Aunt Marie was awake and smiling. Geri was there and took her picture with Eileen . We had a great time. That is the way I will remember her. I will miss her smile and laughter. To Alex, she said when she played football with you you would sometimes say Grandma you're guarding me awful close. I guess it worked.
