William J. "Bill" or "Doc" Skog, age 60 of Darlington, WI, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at UW-Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born December 15, 1958, in Omaha, NE, the son of William and Lois (Chantry) Skog. Bill grew up in Omaha where he graduated from Omaha Central High School in 1977. After high school, he received his Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Iowa after beginning on an art scholarship. He later went on to receive his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University. After he finished school, Bill moved to Shullsburg, WI, where he began practicing veterinary medicine. In 1988, Bill bought a farm in Darlington where he raised his family.Bill is survived by his son: Andrew (Shawna) Skog of Mazomanie, WI; two grandchildren that he adored: Vincent and Tessa Skog; his fiancé: Phylis Andrews of Omaha, NE; and three brothers: Steve Skog of Omaha, NE, Jeff (Ricki) Skog of Omaha, NE, and Paul (Jacque) of Evanston, WY. He was preceded in death by his parents.Bill cherished his family, especially his son and grandchildren. He was a deep thinker. He believed in traditional farming. Bill enjoyed being outdoors, especially hiking and fishing, and wanted to leave a lasting environmental legacy. He was very athletic despite his disabled right leg and loved playing hockey and ice skating growing up. As an adult, Bill loved bowling and swimming. During his free time, Bill liked to spend time with his friends at the tavern chatting, laughing, and playing cards. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at Darlington American Legion Hall (1400 Keep St., Darlington) with Rev. Angela Utter of Darlington United Methodist Church officiating. A visitation will be held Friday, February 1, 2019, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Darlington American Legion Hall and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the Legion Hall. To a great Guy, I will miss you so much. As friends and Members of the American Suffolk Horse Association, we shared the Love of the Suffolk Punch. With my heart heavy with you leaving before your time. I do feel that God was needing you more that us back here in this world. I hope one day we will be in the same place and tell story's like we did before you left. I am missing you so, but know your Family and friends are as well. Your son & Daughter in-law along with your new found Love Phylis Caniglia Andrews are hurting but will always hold you closes to there heart.

Bill was a friend to me,a friend to animals, especially Suffolk Punch horses. Bill summed up our relationship with this: "You bring out the best in me, and I bring out the worst in you". Balanced things out. I'll miss ya Bill, until we meet again.

I'm so sorry to lose my youngest brother. He was a good companion and a great outdoorsman. I'll miss my long weekends visiting him and going shooting at the county range. May he rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Skog family and his fiancé: Phylis Andrews. I will always remember Bill for his ability to succeed at everything he set out to do. Regardless of the challenge he saw each day as an adventure to accomplish what no one expected. I and so many others that went to school with Bill achieved more due to his positive approach to the life he led.

So sorry to hear of Doc' Skog's passing. He was a genuine friend. I shall miss our conversations. My fondest memory will forever be, he letting my young son Nathan drive his team. Rest in peace Bill. Thoughts and prayers to Andrew and the entire family.
