Twilla Rakow

Twilla M. Rakow, age 94 of Shullsburg, WI passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Edenbrook Nursing Home in Platteville, WI. She was born May 23, 1924 in Mineral Point, WI the daughter of Guy and Ethel (Cannon) Canon. Twilla attended Mineral Point High School in Mineral Point, WI. She was united in marriage to John E. Rakow on November 22, 1941 in Dubuque, IA. Twilla lived in the Darlington and Shullsburg areas most of her life.Twilla is survived by her daughters: Eleanor Blaine and Sandra Hittenmiller both of Shullsburg; a daughter-in-law: Linda Rakow of Cuba City, WI; one brother: Duane Canon of AZ, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; two sons: Ernest Leon Rakow in 1948 and Johnny Rakow; one daughter: Shirley (Lee) Clark; two sisters: Eleanor Peebles and Loretta Mau; a brother: Merlin (Marlene) Canon; two sons-in-law: John Blaine and Gary Hittenmiller; and a sister-in-law: Lucile Canon.Twilla was a member of Shullsburg American Legion Auxiliary Post #105. She enjoyed crocheting and her flower gardens. Twilla cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren creating memories that will last them a lifetime. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement St, Shullsburg) with Rev. Nick J. McElrath of First Baptist Church in Darlington, WI officiating. Burial will be in Avoca Cemetery in Avoca, WI. A visitation will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home.
