Esther Marty

Esther M. Marty, age 91 of Darlington, WI passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Our House Assisted Living in Platteville, WI. She was born August 9, 1927 in Darlington the daughter of Lloyd and Myrtle (Jacques) Bryson. Esther graduated from Darlington High School. She was united in marriage to John H. Marty on May 15, 1947 at First Baptist Church in Darlington. Esther lived in the Darlington area her entire life. Following her marriage, she farmed with her husband in Seymour Township in Lafayette County, WI. She also worked as a legal secretary for Johnson, Kranz, McDaniel and Haverty Law Offices both in Darlington. Prior to her retirement she was the Bookkeeper for Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. Esther also served as Seymour Township's treasurer for a number of years. Esther is survived by her children: Jack (Jeanette) Marty of Flowery Branch, GA, Ron (Kathy) Marty of Platteville, WI, Wayne (Diane) Marty of Littleton, CO, Roger (Diane) Marty of Madison, WI, and Jeanne (Dick) Black of rural Darlington; her grandchildren: Scott (Kim) Marty, Melanie (Mitch) Maxey, Crystal (Jeremiah) Bader, Brett Marty, Drina (Chad) Nibbe, Brittany Kloppel, Eric Marty, Denise (Bart) Jones, Dylan Black, and Jade Black. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John. Esther was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Darlington, it's Women's Guild, and was a past Rebekah member. She cherished the time she spent with her family creating memories they will all remember forever. Esther enjoyed arranging family events, gardening, ceramics, and cooking in her earlier years. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel United Church of Christ (339 E. Louisa St., Darlington) with Rev. Barbara Brakey officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at Immanuel United Church of Christ. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
